Edit PDF text while keeping its original style

Correct a name, date, address or short sentence in a supported text PDF. Click a highlighted area and type directly on the page. Your changes save to the temporary editing session after a brief typing pause. Use Preview & Download to review and save the result to your device.

Edit complete words

Nearby matching text fragments are combined where supported, making split words easier to edit. Add letters without automatically shrinking the font.

Add a new text line

Choose Add Text, click a location, then enter a note or label. Set the new text size, color and bold style using the toolbar.

Preview the saved PDF

Review the rendered PDF before download. The preview and download use the same PDF file, with replacement text remaining selectable.

How to edit a PDF online

  1. Choose a PDF up to 15 MB and 50 pages.
  2. Click highlighted text to replace it, or select Add Text to insert a new line.
  3. Pause typing to save. Use Undo or Redo to revise changes.
  4. Select Preview & Download, review the pages, and download your edited PDF.

Original fonts, spacing and page layout

Supported edits keep the original font resources, size and baseline. The editor replaces PDF text rather than covering it with a white rectangle. Extra letters use natural character widths; they do not automatically move nearby text or resize table cells. Check longer replacements for overlap before sharing an invoice or form.

Editing support: Latin letters, numbers and supported punctuation. The original font must contain the requested characters. Some custom encodings, mixed styles, rotated pages and complex PDF structures cannot be edited. Original text size and color controls are not included.

Privacy and temporary file handling

Documents are uploaded to the PraxTools server for editing and preview rendering. Active PDFs are held temporarily in memory. Sessions expire after 15 minutes of inactivity, with cleanup within 30 seconds. Upload parsing may use temporary files. Refreshing the page or restarting the service can end your session, so download your work before leaving.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit existing PDF text online for free?

Yes. Open a supported text PDF, click a highlighted text area, type your changes and preview the PDF before downloading. No account is required.

Will the original font and font size stay the same?

Supported replacements preserve the original PDF font and size. A character must be available in the original font. Unsupported characters are rejected instead of silently substituting a font.

Can I add extra letters or edit a complete word?

Yes. Longer text can use the remaining page width. Close fragments with matching font and baseline are grouped where supported. Check the preview because longer text can overlap nearby content.

Can I edit scanned PDF text?

Image-only scanned words are not directly editable. You can add a new text line on a supported scanned page. OCR is not included in this editor.

How are uploaded PDFs handled?

PDFs are uploaded to the PraxTools server for editing and rendering. Active documents are held temporarily in memory. Sessions expire after 15 minutes of inactivity, with cleanup within 30 seconds; upload parsing may use temporary files. Download your work before closing or refreshing the page.

What are the file limits?

The editor accepts PDFs up to 15 MB and 50 pages, with up to 300 edits. Password-protected files, interactive forms, complex scripts and some rotated or cropped pages are not supported.

Can I change the size or color of new text?

Yes. Use Add Text, click the page and choose a size, color and bold setting. These controls apply to newly added text; existing text keeps its original style.
